Groovy 80's

Sharing old photos today with Ms CurlyPops

These are two of my Uncles with me on my Christening day. I'm loving the brown suits! My Uncle still has that beard to this day, 24 years later. I have never seen him without it!

I swear that every child born or has lived or visited Melbourne Zoo has nearly this exact photo. This was my second birthday and my Mum has still kept the dress I have on.

Unlike Ms Dabblingallday, I decided it would be more fun putting the pegs on my brother than myself. I'm not sure if my brother is about to cry or laugh! I will have to try and dig out the one where we have managed to get him into my dolls pram.

This is my cousin and I 'helping' bake at my Grandma's house. My Grandma use to let us help cook every single time we were there and still does now. She is in the top left corner, I am of course the one with the very blonde hair and my cousin is the one with the girls' mullet!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of my photos.

I've lost that blogging feeling

I'm still here stitching and sewing away...Just can't get in the mood for blogging.
Hopefully this small post will break the no-blog-feeling spell that I feel is on me!

My Creative Space...

Before I can continue with this....

I unfortunately have to clean this...

The black-hole of messy craft stuff that is invading the lounge room and dining room.
This picture doesn't even the worst of it.
Wish me luck!

My Creative Space...

It's such a lovely day outside but I am trying to be good and are chaining myself to my sewing machine until I get my two WIP finished.

Need to sew the last couple of rows on this one but it is so big now I'm having trouble lying it out on the floor. Who knew 2.5 meters square was so big!

Just have to hopefully find something in the Kaffe fabric collection to border this with. Just not happy with anything I've tried so far.

Off to chain myself to the sewing machine so I don't run out to the line and bring these sweeties inside and start another quilt!

I got to meet Meet me at Mike's!

Squeal!
Last night I went along to Pip's talk and book signing at Reading in Carlton.
It was great!
Pip was very happy that more than one person turned up!

Pip (and Ari) spoke about how it was a family and friend based book and pointed out pictures of themselves and other friends from the book (including their Magpie Rochester!).

Pip then open the floor to questions, including what you need to get started (sewing machine, and good scissors),  where to buy fabric (spotlight, check your cardboards, op shops and Patchwork on Central Park), what she had for lunch (sorry I can't remember her answer!) and I asked Ari how many pictures of him were in the book (three).

Pip then went into the making of the book, making the items, writing instructions for them, remaking off the instructions, the people that designed the book, took the lovely pictures and edited the book.
She also showed as what she she working on at the moment, and the plans for the next two(!) books.

She then was very lovely and signed my book and let me get a photo with her:

Not the best picture of me!
I had a fantastic night and urge you all to go out and buy Pip's book.

I'm off to Nicole's house now for some crochet (her) and cross-stitching & Sew la tea do reading (me).
Have a lovely Wednesday!

Winner, Winner.....

I know, I know, I am late! Although it still has to be Wednesday somewhere in the world right?!
I know you are all waiting to see who has won so without further ado...

We had 55 comments (I have removed a couple of double ups),
so Random number generator...

Yay, If I counted right it is Alyssa who picked the Gold Box, which I put the Christmas goodies in! Congrats Alyssa!

Therefore that leaves us with the red love heart box and our second winner...

Susan L  who wanted the red box, so it all works out well.
(Truth be told, number 13 came up again?! But I though I would be fair and redraw)

Ladies could you please email me your addresses and I will pop your goodies in the mail asap.

Ps. Look what I won from Lauren! I had to borrow this photo from her blog because those earrings were in my ears as soon as I got them (and it is very hard to take a picture of your own ears!).

My Creative Space...

Is filled with vintage sheets and pillowcases and one (hopefully sharp) quick-un-pick.
I am thinking it was a bit evil that Ms DabblingallDay left her sheets in my car too, I think she wants me to unpick hers too!
We have grand ideas of pillows, quilts and buntings floating around in our heads so I better get ripping....
I wonder what the midday movie is...?

Also did anyone else read the opinion page in the Herald Sun yesterday?
It had an interesting piece on op shopping and it's affordability. Link here.

 Picture of the coast,

Bit cold for a surf if you ask me,

 DJ about to take the next photo;

My Nan's beautiful garden from the dining room window,

Horrible picture of the water from the balcony, I wish it would just be sunny for a couple of hours :(

Mural painted on the side of our decking.

Blogtoberfest Day 31: Flea Market Finds

Even though Sophie is not doing Flea Market finds this week, I just had to share because I have had bountiful finds this week!

Found at the Kongwak Market this morning.
Can't wait to get home and find some matching fabric to recover the cushion in.

Also found at Kongwak market.
Just love the colours of the anodised cups.
DJ is happy because I already have a set and I said we can use these ones instead of displaying them.
Somehow drinks just taste so much better out of them!

Bargain vintage pillow covers.
I'm thinking I may have to get started on my vintage quilt. I'm thinking vintage chenille for the back of it, so I better get searching for that.

DJ has promised more Op Shopping for tomorrow so hopefully there will be things for me to share next week on Flea Market finds since I have jumped the gun this week!

Don't forget to enter my Giveaway as well.

I wouldn't lie to you

Just made it down to the holiday house. Weather is still really nice and I'm sitting outside wondering whether I should go get a drink :) Thought you would love to see a picture of the beach at night! Be back tomorrow with some better pictures for you (or not if it rains like they say it's meant to!).

Blogtoberfest Day 28: My Creative Space

Unfortunately the rotary cutting fairy did not come and cut out the rest of my quilt :(
But I am slowly getting there.
The rest of the blocks are cut out and the rows are all sewn together.
Hopefully by the end of the day I will have a new quilt.
Can't wait to show you how massive it is (it won't even fit on my lounge room floor!)

Blogtoberfest Day 27: Wednesday Love..

Today I am loving small parcels,

That are waiting on your front doorstep, when you go outside,

That have cute little warning stickers like these,

And even cuter masking tape on the back,

Boy am I glad I ordered two of these packages,

more cute stickers and card,

And this very silky and soft material,
just look how gorgeous that elephant looks,

It's a huge bit of fabric, and I have two pieces,
Now I want to make this or maybe PJs?

I would love to know what you are loving this Wednesday...

Ps. Don't forget to enter my Giveaway!

Blogtoberfest Day 26: Tuesday Treasures

My Tuesday Treasure is the first thing I ever got off Etsy. I has being eying off these two on therunnybunny for weeks, maybe even months, when surprise, they turned up in the mail. A lovely present from DJ!

Bunnydeer has to be one of my most favourite things I own.
It is slipped casted and DJ got her specially made for me.
I'm really not to sure why I love it so much. I just find it so kooky and cute!

Really love Owl as well. How cute are those little little acorns she is perched on. I really like the detail on her feathers as well.

For more cute Tuesday Treasures see Clare.

Blogtoberfest Day 25: At my House

Feeling like I'm not getting anywhere with my stitching....

Wishing my killer neck/head ache would go away and I could do some more stitching...

Wishing there was a rotary cutting fairy that came during the night and cut your quilt out for you so you didn't have to...

Wishing this bowl of jelly beans would never run out...

Getting excited because Ms Dabbling all Day has almost finished my blanket (and hoping she is free for some op shopping this Wednesday?)

Wishing the weather stays good for the long weekend so I can enjoy four crafting and sunning days at Phillip Island...

And hoping you have entered my Giveaway!
