My Creative Space...

I'm slowly getting there...

Was planning to have this finished yesterday but ran out of border fabric.

Hopefully today, do come back later and check up on me. It will be the first quilt I have finished in 8 days if I get it done!

My day with Kaffe and Brandon: Part Four

Last post on this I swear!

I filmed what Kaffe had to say about my Quilt just so you guys can see it:

At the end of the day we got to get our books signed and a couple of us snuck in some photos as well.

Kaffe and Brandon also showed us some of their quilts:

I love, love, love this next quilt. It is on the front of their next book. I am thinking that DJ may be getting this for Christmas, if I can give it up after I make it!

And then it was all over.

I managed to make it to NGA and have a quick look around before it closed but unfortunately not enough time to see Ballets Russes. I then caught a taxi out to the airport. My flight was delayed for an hour, so sat around Canberra airport for three very long hours.

Finally made it back to Melbourne and in bed at 11:30, very, very long day but one of the best of my life!

My day with Kaffe and Brandon: Part Three

Thought you would all like to see all the other girls quilts. I took some pictures at lunch and then some at the end of the day so you could all see the difference.

My day with Kaffe and Brandon: Part Two

By the time we had breaked for lunch and come back, I was feeling a bit better. Had a massive headache which has continued throught to today, but managed to work through it. Michelle for Buttontree Lane said she had one today so I am calling it my Kaffe Hangover!

After lunch we all finished off our quilt design and then started on our border diamonds and triangle border. Kaffe and Brandon came round and helped us all. It did get a little hard as they both had different opinions on colours and designs so I had to pick which one to listen to!

This is what my quilt looked like at the end of the day. Looking at the photo, I'm not to sure on the outside triangles. It's looking a bit too busy.

Once it reached three o'clock, Kaffe went around and critiqued all of our quilts...

My day with Kaffe and Brandon: Part One

My day began bright and early at 4:30am. DJ drove me out to the airport while I fretted about having forgot something, missing my flight, not going to the class on time, all the normal stuff. Lucky for me I arrived 10 minutes early to Canberra, hoped straight in a taxi, and got to Addicted to Fabric at 8:20 and was the second person there.

The lovely Jenny had arranged a big cutting mat, rotary cutter (couldn't take mine as carry on), and a big ruler for me. I set up my design wall and then found out I was meant to have cut a whole row of blocks in 5-6 different colours, not 5-6 blocks in different colours like I thought! Oops! I frantically started cutting and had they all done by the time Kaffe and Brandon arrived.

For the next three and a half hours I put diamonds up on the wall...

Cut some more...

Take some down, re-arrange and then put some more up...

This is what it looked like when I went to lunch...

By this time we were all feel a bit frazzled and stressed. I think by this time I had taken blocks down and rearranged them that many times that I had lost count! Kaffe and Brandon were circling the room helping us move blocks and injecting more and different colours to our quilts. Mine was starting to look like someone had throw up blue on my design wall (or so I thought), so Brandon grabbed some different fabrics for me to add.

Off I then went to lunch...
